The State Key Laboratory of Cellular Stress Biology was established in October 2011 with approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology. Professor Jiahuai Han has since been the director of the Laboratory, and Professor Zhi-xin Wang the director of the board of academic advisors.

Our research is broadly focused on the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of the signaling pathways that play critical roles in stress response to various stresses, including inflammation and pathogen insults, oncogenic stresses, and metabolic stresses, in mammalian systems. The Laboratory offers a collaborative research environment where scientists at all levels can work together to address scientific problems of fundamental importance. To ensure the success of the investigators, the Laboratory offers a variety of core facility services, seminar series, and professional development programs. As an inherent part of the Laboratory’s mission, we are dedicated to educating young scientists, undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We are committed to becoming one of the foremost biomedical research centers in the area of stress biology in the world.
